Enchantment in the Woods Wedding

Enchantment in the Woods- A Lakefront New England Wedding.

Sheep farmers in Vermont, Annie & Sean may have atypical career choices, but they hold the value of local Vermont resources near to their hearts. Natural, organic and locally sourced were the key elements in every decision made throughout their wedding design. Guests experienced a marriage of forest and lake design, combined with personal touches reflecting the couple. Annie & Sean wanted their wedding day to feel comfortable and friendly, while mom and dad wanted to be sure to incorporate top-notch service, and all parties desired the exceptional quality found in Vermont resources.

The couple’s day began in the home together with the bridal tribe. There was a feeling of unity and friendship amongst the group as they shared in everything together throughout the morning. As the bridal party finished up photos, guests began to arrive, being escorted down a woodsy trail along the lake’s edge to find the ceremony tucked into a grove of trees. The bridal tribe, parents and the couple processed in from the woods behind the ceremony space as a surprise to their guests and met beneath an arbor they had constructed themselves from beach-side branches they collected from Lake Champlain.

After the ceremony, A&S led the recession from the woods out to the cocktail hour with phenomenal views of the lake. Bar staff ready to serve, rich blue colors from custom made Vermont Tent linens, and hammocks in the trees awaited guests, but the true highlight was the “family tree.” Wrapped around an enormous centralized tree, guests found the wedding photos from Annie & Sean’s parents and grandparents and this quickly became a favorite highlight for everyone!

From cocktail hour, guests made their way to the escort table where they located a compass with their name and table on it, and then navigated to their seats! Tables were named after types of trees, aspen, elm, spruce and more, continuing to connect the guests to the forest that surrounded the wedding day.

One of the biggest elements towards locally sourced and organic design was found in the floral design of the reception tent. With the event taking place on the family property, Jayson Munn and his team were able to move into one of the barns on the property and setup shop a week early! This allowed Jayson time to forage the property and surrounding woods for resources to incorporate into their living centerpieces. From lakeside grasses to little birds nests, the centerpieces brought the surrounding forest into the tent, each unique in their own ways, full of little surprises for guests to enjoy. Table names were calligraphed onto lichen and napkins were accented with natural, stone buttons the couple and their families collected.

Continuing to bring the outside in, the clear-top tent allowed the sunset and shadows of the tall trees surrounding to peek into the tent. Lighting above the tent gave the illusion of a starry night and complimented the twinkle lights and star shaped pendant lighting found inside the tent. As night settled, the incredible work by the Drape Art Designs team really shown; an engulfing, shining evening from inside the tent, and a glowing masterpiece from afar, the lighting elements brought a kind of magic of their own.

After an evening of feasting and enjoying a true farm-to-table experience, including from the couple’s own herd, dancing the night away, and living in the joy of the moment, it was time to end the long weekend. Annie & Sean climbed onto their antique tractor and drove off into the dark after a farewell drive through bubbles and sparklers! A truly spectacular day, not soon to be forgotten.
